The North Madison Volunteer Fire Company Junior Program gives young individuals, starting at age 14, the chance to experience the fire service firsthand. It’s a unique opportunity to learn the value of teamwork, responsibility, and community service while making a real difference.

What Juniors Do

Junior members respond to a wide range of emergency calls, including:

  • Structure fires
  • Brush fires
  • Automatic fire alarms
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Other emergency incidents

They actively train alongside senior members every Tuesday night, building their skills and confidence in real-world scenarios.

Beyond the Fireground

The program isn’t just about emergency response. Junior members also participate in:

  • Company fundraisers
  • Community parades
  • Local public service events

These experiences help foster strong connections with both the fire company and the community.

A Path to Leadership

Many former Junior members have gone on to become:

  • Senior firefighters
  • Chief officers
  • Career firefighters

This program has a proud history of preparing the next generation of fire service leaders.
