Emergency Medical First Responder Program

Med_compartment_small.JPGThe NMVFC serves the citizens of Madison, but primarily the residents of North Madison with Emergency Medical Services. Madison is an irregularly shaped town, being 14 miles long and only a few miles wide. Madison Ambulance Association (MAA) is located just south of I-95, this results in longer response time. Because of this, former Chief John Brady established a medical response program.

Today, many member of the NMVFC are qualified medical responders. These members have dual roles within NMVFC being certified as Medical Response Technician (MRT) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

The NMVFC serves as a supplement to the Madison Police Department. The Police Department has officers trained to the MRT-D level. Each police officer carries a defibrillator, oxygen and a medical bag. Madison Ambulance Association, transports patients to various facilities in the area.

defib_small.jpgThe EMS section of NMVFC remains highly active today. Approximately half of all emergency incidents are EMS related. Calls range from difficulty breathing/chest pains to motor vehicle accidents.

NMVFC is always looking for new members. If you are interested in volunteering your time please see our membership section.
